Quite a few non open-access journals charge a similar fee to make the article open. Although it is a rather high cost, this is something that can be legitimately budgeted for in grant proposals. I'm not defending this model - just explaining. Also, its worth nothing that journals like PLoS Biology charge a similar fee to publish, though they can reduce or waive the fee for folks who can't pay.220myahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06403919493457640549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3467242881996852098.post-36677979341120974532009-10-19T13:57:37.302-07:002009-10-19T13:57:37.302-07:00hey i really like your blog if u want to can check...hey i really like your blog if u want to can check out mineZoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05279979189222449728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3467242881996852098.post-51331868533414852302009-10-15T08:31:39.402-07:002009-10-15T08:31:39.402-07:00Speaking as one who has just (within the last 24 h...Speaking as one who has just (within the last 24 hours) had an article rejected from JVP, I have to say that reading this -- "authors now have the option of purchasing complete open access for their article (presently, to the tune of $3,250)" -- made me feel much better about my work not going into that journal. Needless to say, we'll be submitting the revised ms. to an open-access journal instead.Mike Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06039663158335543317noreply@blogger.com
